John Baker

John Baker is the Managing Partner of Compass Reporting Group who works with clients, employees and vendors to ensure Compass is providing first-class service and support. John is a successful entrepreneur with a diverse financial services background and specializes in making it happen. In 1994, John founded an asset management company focused on filing and collecting mortgage insurance claims. Within 10 years, Baker & Brinkley Asset Management Services became the nation’s largest provider of mortgage insurance claim filing services, ultimately selling to First American Corporation in 2004. John then purchased a litigation services company which, after some expansions, spin-offs and mergers, eventually became the Compass Reporting Group of today. John earned his Bachelor of Finance from Louisiana Tech University and later attended The University of Texas at Austin.  While John pours his professional energy and knowledge into business planning, sales, marketing, finance, operations and the overall management of Compass, he makes sure he always has enough left to volunteer coaching soccer and baseball.

Brad Garrett

Brad Garrett is a Compass Reporting Group Partner who focuses on providing high-quality and economical litigation support solutions to law firms, corporations and insurance companies nationwide. Brad knows the value of having a well-vetted provider network using sophisticated tools but believes customer service is the most important aspect of what we do. That spotlight on the client experience results in reliable, dependable and professional services. Brad has dedicated his career to litigation support services, substantially growing the handful of top-tier companies he’s worked with over the years. Prior to joining Compass Reporting Group (formally known as Blue Ribbon Legal Court Reporting in Texas), Brad was the General Manager of Team Litigation Company. When Brad isn’t meeting with clients or attending industry conferences, he enjoys traveling and experiencing new adventures with his family and losing tennis matches to his daughter. As an almost lifelong Houstonian, he heartily supports and roots for the Astros (THE World Series Champions!) and Texans all year long.

Brian Ruiz

Brian Ruiz is a Partner with Compass Reporting group and exemplifies a “Can Do” attitude. In fact, his motto is “Tell us when and where and we’ll make it happen, even if it’s on the moon!” His experience as a paralegal and with both national and international litigation services gives him a rare understanding of the entire process. Brian pulls from this well-versed background to assist the entire Compass team in providing first-class litigations support services. Throughout his career, Brian has always been a champion for his clients, creating a win-win situation; the company grows exponentially and clients receive the best service available. Brian started his career as a 2nd Class Legalman/Paralegal with the US Navy. From there he moved into the private sector as a legal secretary, paralegal and then jumped into deposition services. In his National Client Services positions he learned the importance of project management and technology in depositions. Brian enjoys attending industry events and visiting clients’ offices to meet with colleagues and make connections with professionals across the country. While passionate about his work, Brian catches the occasional break to take full advantage of his Florida location. He spends free time with his family, traveling and visiting local attractions like a tourist.  

Ana Torres

Ana Torres serves as Compass Reporting Group’s Operations Manager working with legal assistants, attorneys and key affiliate firm members to find the opportunity in every challenge, going the extra mile while always keeping the end goal in sight. Ana knows most issues arise from miscommunication, as such she finds that communication is the key to this very human business. Ana is able to lean on her extensive experience to navigate those truths and create positive results, maintaining focus on providing consistent services to clients. Entering the court reporting as a file clerk, over the years, Ana has worked with various members of the legal community. From helping reporters to being on-site and in the war-room assisting clients, she’s worked in virtually all aspects of the industry. It’s this experience that allows her to successfully maintain the balance of all the pieces and place them in their respective order. As a child, Ana felt she lacked anything resembling a creative gene, was always calculated and academic. Remarkably, she discovered a passion in a world quite the opposite of that and earned a bachelor degree with honors in Fine Arts for Interior Design from the Art Institute of Houston. It’s this drive to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks that makes her successful in both her professional life and as a loving wife and mother of two in her home life.
